KATASTROPHOBIA
"age of aqvarius" lp:
Along the many years of squat/punk activities, Katastrophobia have been
building their sound and personality. "age of aqv. is the missing
link between Anti-Sect and Catharsis, deep, dark yet sometimes fast hc-punk,
with conscious lyrics written by this dedicated/diy group. Don't miss
their new 7" on their own Morning Star label too (beautifull craftwork!).

ALGOLAGNIE
s.t. lp:
the complex sound of your braincells after a long night in a squat of
Lille-fr, the confusion, stagering from bars to bars, frustrated, looking
for something different and definitely not finding anything, this the
revolting sound of algolagnie, the talented unique mixture of those squatters
and assorted feminists. Algolagnie have also released a split lp shared
with PORC BLEU on Maloka.

MANIFESTO
JUKEBOX "desire" lp/cd:colaboration
with their own Combat Rock Industry and Nabate. Manifesto Jukebox plays
raging punkrock, managing to combine the essence of the best punk - they
could be compared to bands such as Husker Du & Leatherface, Social Distortion
and of today’s bands maybe Avail and Hot Water Music, but more hardcore
- with a twist of the melancholy of Finnish people and pop music. Don't
miss ! (see review)

UNHINGED
"Win our Freedom in fire" The
first album and the first demo (1993?!!) of this poliical hc-punk
gang from Liege. They have decided to disband after seven years and
MANY gigs . This compact contains the early years, first line up mayhem.

COUNTER-ATTACK
"Master and Jester" LP hell!
this album is truely fucking great. It combines the rage of British
anarcho-punk bands in the eighties with some of their own talented
mix, always with interesting tunes. . The lyrics are a bit bitter
and existential, but of
course they've
got their heart in the right place. Society and i's alienation is
the target here. It's a fine record to place between Conflict
and Crass (who?!)
in your record collection!

LTS
"Intime Océan" cd :
NOT the usual stuff!! LTS combines the heritage of traditional
celtic folk (banjo & flute) and add their own blend of dancable punk
(drum- machine and heavy rhytmic guitar (SG!)). This band has drawn
the attention of many people in the european punk & squatters scene.
They are DIY, sincere and talented. They live up in the mountains in
South of France, growing their own vegs.

HIATUS
"brain/sueño" cd This disc
includes the legendary last 12", the 2nd lp remastered plus three unreleased
practice-tracks and one live song hot as hell. It comes with 32 pages
of lyrics, artwork, a bonanza of DIY flyers & posters and a hilarious
tour report written by Wills. If you missed these releases, i can tell
you it is time to catch up! (as a bonus it will cost you about half
the money of the vynil version!).

KIMUSAWEA
"Short treatise on man and his happyness" lp This LP combines
really cool abstract, artistic material and direct punk rock.
Each songs has many layers, giving it a really full sound. Kimusawea
have an intense sound that doesn't quit. A lot of German bands
have this engaging style, but the female vocals bring in a hint of Nausea
that can't be ignored. One track goes deep into a trance-like
groove that reminded me of Neurosis. The packaging is also really impressive.
The lyrics are printed in varnish on the back cover; a nice effect,
but it does make them hard to read at times. A superb record. LO
(heartattack #21 p.o.box 680, Goleta, CA 93116 u$a.)

reviews:
manifesto jukebox "desire"
Now this is what revolutionary rock is all about. Social and politically
conscious lyrics sung with conviction, rage, and most importantly, hope.
The music is just gold, too. Imagine if you will Mike Kirsch playing
a pissed-off HÜSKER DÜ. Think sky high wall of guitar plying
transcendent BYRDS and BEATTLES riffs at 100 miles per hour, blown speakers
and bloody fingers. And there's plenty of suprising changes and razor
sharp breakdowns, as well. (BG) MRR#211
counter-attack "master and jester"
It seems that the truly classic gems of anarcho-peace punk type
crust punk bands are few and far between these days. And likewise I
don't see too many releases from Nabate anymore. Counter-Attack remedy
all of it with this awesome release. It's a cross between Antisect and
Aus Rotten with the history of the anarcho-punk outa the uk behind them.
The music is driving and powerful with a triumphant feeling. They've
got dual vocals (not the guttural crust style) but rather two pretty
equal voices which overlap and power it out together. And what makes
this really great is that they have got their own original style which
falls into place with others of the genre but is in no way a clone.
There's some acoustic type traditional parts while most of this is purely
raging hardcore-punk - it makes a nice dynamic. They've got a great
booklet. The lyrics are epic - long winding narrative (not unlike Antisect
again). Counter-Attack are from Belgium, while they've got a distinct
uk sound. Take notice of this band cause they are one of the best! (-Christ)
